Known for lush fabrics and bold statement prints, Napoleon Perdis recently had the pleasure of creating and directing the runway beauty looks for their recent Ethereal Beauty SS20/21 Collection.  

We caught up with founder and Creative Director, Kristian Chase for the scoop on his latest show.  

What was the inspiration behind the Aqua Blu Resort 22 Enchantment collection? 

"There is a focus on bold colours, intricate prints, beautiful silks and couture craftsmanship," says Chase. "The silhouettes are inspired by some of the most memorable women in my life. This collection is a homage to my past, a reflection of my present and excitement for the future."  

How would you describe the collection? 

“It’s the woman's dream summer wardrobe. Think, expertly fitted maxi dresses featuring intricate gold and velvet detailing, to linen wraps with complementing swimwear and peekaboo prints, intermixed with designs that are thoughtfully crafted with women (of all kinds) in mind.

The Aqua Blu muse is the epitome of inner beauty; brought to life by embracing an unmodified, lo-fi complexion. Skin emulates a natural radiance, eliminating the need for a plethora of products.” 

Tell us a little about the Beauty look created for the show…  

“As described by Napoleon Perdis Principal Makeup Artist, Kate Squires, The Aqua Blu muse is the epitome of inner beauty; brought to life by embracing an unmodified, lo-fi complexion. Skin emulates a natural radiance, eliminating the need for a plethora of products. Subtle bronze accents imitate an Australian glow, embodied by sun-kissed cheekbones and softly defined contours to delicately shape the face.” 

“An emphasised brow creates a shape-shifting illusion of a well-rested and youthful face, whilst also bringing symmetry to the overall look, as opposed to overpowering.” 

Recreating this look at home goes further than what’s in your makeup bag. Invest in your skincare regime to maintain overall skin health for complete confidence and a plump, healthy-looking complexion; keep up your h20 all day, every day, double cleanse to restore and invigorate and top up your skin’s hydration levels, particularly in the evening when skin switches to recovery mode, a time of intense repair and generation.   

What are the key pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe? 

A statement dress. Everyone needs a statement dress in their wardrobe! Be brave and bold and step out of your comfort zone. My philosophy has always been that it's not just about being noticed, it's about being remembered. Have fun with colour, prints and embrace glamour.  

The brand has undergone phenomenal growth over the past year, tell us a little about the expansion and what’s next for the Aqua Blu Brand? 

It has been a surreal couple of years, but we’ve gone from strength to strength. We are excited for a lot of new projects in which we are working on but mainly our return to the global runway. Expect shows in London and New York Fashion Week.
