YOUR SUMMER RITUAL, STEP-BY-STEP

YOUR SUMMER RITUAL, STEP-BY-STEP

Your Summer box is designed as one complete routine for warmer days: skin prepped and protected, makeup that stays fresh and a finish that holds through the heat. But a beautiful box of products only works if you know what goes where.

The best order is cleanse, serum, SPF 50+ sunscreen, primer, foundation, blush, brows, eyes, mascara, SPF lip balm, then setting spray. Skincare goes on thinnest to thickest, sunscreen is the last skincare step before makeup and setting spray always goes last. Allow around 10 to 15 minutes for the full routine, or five minutes for the express version below.

Why The Order Matters

The order you apply products changes how well they work and how long your makeup lasts. Lighter textures go on first so they can absorb. Sunscreen needs to sit evenly on the skin to protect it. Makeup then layers from the base outwards, and a setting spray locks everything in place. In summer, when heat and humidity can shorten wear, getting the order right makes a noticeable difference.

Skin Prep

1. Cleanse with Lift Off Gel-to-Foam Cleanser. Massage a small amount onto damp skin. The gel turns into a soft foam as you work it in. Rinse well and pat dry with a clean towel, no rubbing.

2. Apply Radiance Regeneration Serum. Press a few drops into your face and neck while your skin is still slightly damp. Give it a minute to absorb before moving on, so your sunscreen and makeup do not slide.

3. Protect with Skin Guardian Natural-Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ Sunscreen. This is the non-negotiable summer step. Apply generously to your face, neck and ears around 20 minutes before going outdoors. Reapply at least every two hours, and after swimming, sweating or towelling. Sunscreen is one part of sun protection, so pair it with a hat, sunglasses, protective clothing and shade.

4. Prime with Auto Pilot Cool Canvas Primer. Once your sunscreen has settled, press a small amount over your face, focusing on the areas where makeup tends to fade first, like the T-zone. It creates an even canvas for your foundation.

Complexion

1. Apply your matched foundation. Work from the centre of your face outwards, building only where you want more coverage. Using the brushes from your welcome set? A flat or buffing brush blends liquid formulas seamlessly, while powder formulas are best swirled and buffed on in light layers. Some Napoleon Perdis foundations contain SPF, but do not rely on foundation alone for sun protection. Keep your SPF 50+ sunscreen underneath.

2. Add warmth with Blush Patrol Matte in Rose. Smile and sweep blush onto the apples of your cheeks, blending up towards your temples. Start with a light layer and build. A matte finish is a great choice for warmer days.

Brows And Eyes

1. Define with your matched Eyebrow Pencil. Use short, feathery strokes in the direction of hair growth to fill any gaps, then brush through with a spoolie to soften. Focus on shape rather than colour for the most natural result.

2. Glide on your matched Luxe Lids Eye Stix. Swipe across your lid and blend the edge with your fingertip or a brush within a few seconds. For a softer look, smudge it along your upper lash line as a liner instead.

3. Finish with Next Dimension Lash-Boosting Mascara. Wiggle the wand from root to tip. Once the first coat is dry, add a second for more definition.

Lips And Lock-In

1. Protect your lips with Skin Guardian Pout Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 50 Lip Balm. Lips need sun care too. Apply before sun exposure and reapply often, especially after eating, drinking or swimming.

2. Set with Camera Finish Matte Setting Spray. Hold the bottle at arm's length and mist over your face in an X and T motion. Let it dry naturally without touching your face. Keep it in your bag for a midday refresh.

Your Five-Minute Summer Routine

Short on time? Cleanse, SPF 50+ sunscreen, foundation, brows, mascara, SPF lip balm and a mist of setting spray. Done. At night, use Lift Off Gel-to-Foam Cleanser to remove makeup and sunscreen, massaging well around the hairline and jaw, then follow with Radiance Regeneration Serum.

Summer Makeup Tips

  • Let each layer settle. Rushing sunscreen into primer and foundation is the main cause of pilling.
  • Less is more in the heat. Thin layers wear better than one heavy one.
  • Blot, do not wipe. On humid days, press a tissue onto shiny areas before refreshing with setting spray.
  • Keep reapplying SPF. Sunscreen protection does not last all day, even under makeup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What order should I apply makeup in?

Cleanse, serum, sunscreen, primer, foundation, blush, brows, eyes, mascara, lip balm, then setting spray. Skincare goes first, sunscreen is the last skincare step and setting spray always goes last.

Should sunscreen go on before or after primer?

Before. Sunscreen should be the last step of your skincare and the first layer under your makeup, so it can sit evenly on your skin.

Is the SPF in my foundation enough?

No. Most people do not apply enough foundation to get the SPF on the label, so always use a dedicated sunscreen like Skin Guardian SPF 50+ underneath and reapply through the day.

How do I stop my makeup melting in summer?

Use thin layers, give each product time to settle, prime the areas that fade first and finish with Camera Finish Matte Setting Spray.

Which products in the box are personalised?

Your foundation, Eyebrow Pencil and Luxe Lids Eye Stix are matched to your quiz answers. The other eight products are Napoleon's Summer edit.

How long does the full routine take?

Around 10 to 15 minutes for all 11 steps, or about five minutes for the express version.
